One of the most common complaints among people is poor sleep. Either falling asleep or staying asleep, or for some, a combination of both. It is often thought to be almost normal to wake tired and unrested.
Long-term, lack of sleep can affect all body systems ranging from poor concentration, reduced ability to cope with stress, inefficient digestion and absorption of nutrients, poor healing and recovery from illness. Over time this can start to create a dependance on increased adrenaline to maintain normal energy levels, as this increased demand continues your adrenal glands begin to tire, resulting in Adrenal Fatigue.
Adrenal Fatigue is recognised as a tiredness/exhaustion that does not improve with sleep; it also causes insomnia, poor immunity, imbalanced hormones and reduced mental health and capacity and more. This can be corrected through supporting adrenal health (through diet and quality supplements) and preventing the demand on your adrenal glands.
Sleep and Naturopathy.
During a naturopathic consultation we discuss your sleep, this includes habits before bedtime, quality of sleep, waking at night or insomnia, your wellness plan is created based on the information provided during this discussion and my recommendations and individualised to you and your needs.
This may include recommendations for changing bedtime routine, diet changes, practitioner supplements to help reduce the causes of your poor sleep or herbal blends to help fall and stay asleep.
