The Use of Sound.

According to the ancient yogic cultures and Buddhism, the universe began with the vibration of OM. Being the primordial sound of all creation, preservation and dissolution.  Out of the vibration of OM, all is created.

 

Sound has been used as a healing tool for thousands of years and in ritual and celebration. Shamans of the ancient cultures have used sound for healing through the use of singing and drums.  Aborigines of Australia use the didgeridoo as a healing tool.  The eastern cultures like the yogic traditions of India use chanting bija (seed) sounds to help with physical pain and injury in the body and to create a sense of calm and inner peace to promote meditative states. Here in Aotearoa, Māori have always used their voice instrument for healing and celebration through the Te Reo language, Waiata, Haka, song and also hand-crafted flute instruments. 

 

The music of the great composers for example, Mozart and Beethoven has been found to have a profound effect on the body and mind of people experiencing imbalances causing dis-ease. The vibration of sound travels four times faster via the water in the body than in the air, so the body is a natural sound resonator. Gentle sound vibration can help activate the parasympathetic nervous system guiding us into a state of deep relaxation, melting away tension, stress and anxiety

Massage.

Massage is a well known and recognised modality using physical touch and techniques to release tension and break the pain cycle in the body. Tension in muscles manifest as “knots” where the blood supply to the muscle fibres has been disrupted. By applying pressure where muscle tension is present, knots can be released and blood flow returned to muscles.  

 

In a massage session with me, melt away physical tension and stress with a nurturing, intuitive massage designed to restore balance and calm. Experience release of tightness of muscles, deep relaxation of the nervous system and the nurturing power of physical touch. You will feel very relaxed, more at ease, have freer movement and a deeper connection to your body.

Yoga is an ancient science and philosophy. It unifies body, mind and spirit. Ancient yogis knew humanity as being more than a mind in a body that is separate from everything in existence. Rather, yoga shows us that humanity is part of the web of all of creation intrinsically connected to nature and all beings. It recognises the need to deepen awareness of our inner world to understand life experiences.
